STEP 7 Classic V5.7 — Legacy Systems
While TIA Portal V21 is the current standard for new projects, STEP 7 Classic V5.7 remains essential for maintaining legacy Siemens installations that have not yet migrated to TIA Portal.
STEP 7 Classic is still required for: • S7-400H Redundancy systems (high-availability controllers) • PCS 7 process control systems • WinCC Classic (up to V8.1) SCADA systems • Older S7-300 and S7-400 installations programmed in Classic STEP 7 Both STEP 7 Classic and TIA Portal can be installed on the same PC, enabling engineers to maintain mixed environments from a single workstation.
